Adopted Father by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, I want to talk about more than just biological fathers. Throughout Scripture, we see godly men investing in and mentoring younger men. Perhaps the most famous example is that of Paul and Timothy, whom he refers to as his son in the faith. This Father’s Day weekend, I will be preaching a message on these adopted fathers who help guide us spiritually.

Walking in the Steps by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we will be looking at the relationship between Paul and Timothy. Paul repeatedly refers to Timothy as his son in the faith and makes a point to shape him spiritually, something Timothy’s own father failed to do. The title of this weekend’s message is “UPBRINGING.”

Backsliding Mind by Pastor Abidan Shah

In this final message, we take a look at Paul’s warning against falling back into a sinful pattern simply because he is absent. He tells the Philippians to stand firm and not turn away from the things that they have learned or the work that God had begun in them. The title of this weekend’s message is “BACKSLIDING MIND.”

Kingdom Here by Pastor Abidan Shah

This weekend, we are focused on the kingdom of God. Many times, we think of God’s kingdom as a future reality, something that has yet to come. However, when Jesus came, he inaugurated the kingdom of God here on earth. Through His teaching and His life, He taught His disciples how to live a life fitting of God’s kingdom. The message this weekend is titled “KINGDOM HERE.”

I’m preaching a message this weekend titled “DOUBTFUL FAITH.” Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, was hesitant to believe the reports of His resurrection. He wanted firm proof that he could see and touch. He had to see Jesus and touch His wounds in order to fully believe.

Steadfast by Pastor Abidan Shah

This weekend, our message is titled “STEADFAST.” Paul encouraged the Philippians to stand up under persecution and maintain an eternal perspective on the sufferings of life. He tells them to remain steadfast, but it’s not an individualistic command. Paul tells the Philippians to stand firm together, being unified for the sake of the gospel.

Guaranteed by Pastor Abidan Shah

The title of this message is “GUARANTEED.” Paul wanted the Philippians to understand that God would not start doing something in their lives that He didn’t intend to finish. He is a God who brings things to completion.

Cold Love by Pastor Abidan Shah

The first message in this series is titled “COLD LOVE” because God’s people felt like His love had grown cold. In this message, we’ll learn that God is unchanging even though our feelings fluctuate.

The Fear-Defier by Pastor Abidan Shah

We will be learning about Jesus walking on the water and calling Peter out of the boat. Peter was inspired to face his fears because he was looking to and trusting in Jesus. Even though the storm was still raging, Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water. Jesus defies our fears by igniting our faith.

In the concluding message titled “Love is Liberating,” Paul reminds the Corinthians that true love never ends. It doesn’t have any limitations. It doesn’t use any threats and fears. In fact, it brings a sense of freedom that allows the other person to flourish and love back without any barriers.

Paul not only spent time with the Corinthians, but he wrote back to them, helping them understand how to live and how to love. In this series, based on 1 Corinthians 13, we are going to understand love from God’s perspective—in family, in the church, in our community and in our nation and our world.

Looking for Grace and Truth by Pastor Abidan Shah

If you remember from last weekend’s message, Jesus told His opponents “Moses wrote about Me.” The question is – how and where did Moses mention Jesus? The clue is found in John 1:14 “…we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” If you want to find Jesus in the Old Testament, look for “grace and truth.” Those are the marks of the second person of the godhead.

When God Tests Us by Pastor Abidan Shah

Have you ever taken the time to really examine this petition? Jesus wants us to pray that we will be exempt from testing. If that’s the case, then why is testing considered vital to our spiritual growth? Aren’t we supposed to be joyful in the face of testing, per James?

WHEN ALL SEEMS HOPELESS

Are you facing a hopeless situation in your life? Do these words sound familiar? – “I’ve given up…” “I just don’t think it’s going to work…” “There’s nothing else left…” Do you know the impact hopelessness makes on your personal health? According to a 1997 article published by the American Heart Association – those who have gone through extreme feelings of despair had a 20% greater increase of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) over a 4-year period. If hopelessness is your daily companion, then today’s message is for you. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will bring hope to your heart so that you can live again. But let me remind you – you cannot have the Holy Spirit until you accept Jesus as your Savior. Are you saved?

Why We Need Community – Part 1

In our world of hyper-connectivity with Facebook,Twitter, and other social media, most people are still isolated. They mistakenly think that observing each other’s lives from smart phones and computer screens is living in community. Nothing can be further from the truth. Neither can any amount of bible study and prayer take the place of the human touch.

Bottom line: God never intended for us to live detached from each other. Christian life was always meant to be lived in community. The reason even Christians seem to be making bad and random decisions is because there is no accountability.
