It is always so amazing to walk around these different locations, knowing that you are standing on sites mentioned in Scripture! This weekend, we will be looking further into Paul’s letter to the Philippians. He encourages them to change their mindset to that of Christ. In order to change a mindset, though, we must first understand what the mind is. This message will help us gain a foundational understanding of exactly what we mean by the “mind” and how it affects our daily lives. The title of this weekend’s message is “”MINDSET.”

This weekend, as Pastor Shah is traveling, we will hear from several men who are going to share what God has laid on their hearts. It is such a blessing to be part of a church that is filled with godly leaders and teachers! These messages will encourage and challenge us to live out our faith and to make Christ visible in our daily lives.

This weekend, we are talking about our church and the family of believers that God has blessed us with here at Clearview. This is such a special place and I am so thankful for each person here, as I know many of you are as well. One way that we can show our gratefulness for our church family is by volunteering to serve in some capacity. There are so many ways to serve and to partner with our church family as we reach the lost and make Christ visible.

This weekend, we turn our attention to the importance of the Word of God being implanted in our hearts. When we memorize Scripture, we hide God’s Word in our hearts to keep us focused on Him when life tries to steal our attention. The implanted Word within us responds to the external Word when we sit under biblical teaching and preaching. Likewise, the external Word stirs the implanted Word within us and calls us to action. He encourages Timothy to remind others to regularly study the Scriptures without falling into pointless debates that only create division. This messages marks the fourth installment in our series. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus spent time teaching His disciples and those around Him the importance of the Old Testament and the prophecies that had been fulfilled. Disciples should be established on the truth of the Bible. The title of the message this weekend is “DISCIPLESHIP 4: ESTABLISHED IN THE WORD.”

This weekend, we come to the third letter of the acronym WATER, which stands for “Together.” In the book of Acts, the believers were united by a common purpose and desire to see the gospel spread to the nations. Their unity made them stand out from those around them and drew people to the truth of who Jesus is and what He accomplished. The title of this week’s message is “DISCIPLESHIP 3: TOGETHER.”

Discipleship 2: Accountable by Pastor Abidan Shah

This weekend, we come to the second letter of the acronym WATER, which stands for “Accountable.” Throughout Scripture, we find disciples of God being grouped into pairs and going out to spread the gospel, establish churches, or visit those in need. Jesus encouraged His followers to rely on a close inner circle to keep themselves focused on pursuing God and a pure life. The title of this week’s message is “DISCIPLESHIP 2: ACCOUNTABLE.”

Defining Gospel by Pastor Abidan Shah

Our series takes a different turn this week. The message is titled “DEFINING GOSPEL.” We have been examining Paul’s relationship with the Philippian believers. This week, we are taking a look at Paul’s usage of the word “gospel.” If Paul looks at everything through the lens of the gospel, then we must understand what he means by the term if we are to rightly interpret the rest of the book.

He even said that God used those who were preaching out of a spirit of competition with Paul to get the message of salvation to the nations.

In this message, we will be focusing on the location of Jesus’ birth. In his account of the birth of Jesus, Matthew quotes a prophecy written by Micah pertaining to Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Messiah. This had powerful implications for the people during Micah’s day, those that Matthew was writing to, and for us as well.

The book of 1 Peter in the New Testament encourages believers to remember that temporary suffering is an opportunity to make them more like Christ. He writes that, although this life is chaotic and uncertain, God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. It is only in the Bible that we can find peace, hope, and the answers to our deepest needs.

This week, we will be looking at the miraculous catch of fish by the disciples after the resurrection of Jesus. Through this miracle, Jesus teaches that when we encounter Him, we can’t go back to the comfort of our old life. We must move forward into the mission He has for us.

The final message is titled “BAD START, GOOD FINISH.” It will remind us that even though there were many bad starts in Abraham and Sarah’s family, they all finished well. In other words, you don’t have to start well in order to finish well. There is hope for everyone who is willing to let Christ take over.

In this Summer Bible Study we will be learning how to pick the best Bible translation. Don’t be misled by the title. This is not just about picking between NIV and KJV or NASB and THE MESSAGE. We will be looking at deeper issues as to what goes behind translating the ancient languages in which the Bible was written. We will be debating issues such as “Is form more important than meaning or vice-versa?” Don’t miss this!
