The history of the world shows that in every generation there arises someone who wants to create a global government to gain ultimate power. It began first at the Tower of Babel when people rejected God’s command to “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth” and decided to come together and build a city and “a tower whose top is in the heavens.” About this time, a man named Nimrod rose in power who was a hunter, not of animals but of men. Some early sources describe him as a dictator who tried to turn people away from God to follow him. God had to come down and scatter humanity so it would not be enslaved.
Harvest by Abidan Shah, PhD
This weekend, we are going to expand on this idea of sharing the gospel with others. The Bible compares the world around us to a field ready to harvest. How will the harvest be gathered? How do you know what to harvest? What is the point of the crops that are gathered? We will examine these questions as they relate to our mission as believers and as a church family. The title of this weekend’s message is “HARVEST.”
Sacred by Dr. Abidan Shah
This weekend, we are continuing our study of the canon of Scripture. There are many religions that either add to the canon of books that the church has traditionally considered inspired or mishandle the ones we do consider to be Scripture. How does understanding the canon of Scripture help us to better see which religions are inaccurate, even if they appear close in their beliefs? The title of this weekend’s message is “SACRED”.
Inspiration by Dr. Abidan Shah
Last weekend, we compared the Bible to the Qur’an and looked at how both Islam and Christianity view inspiration and the content of each book. This weekend, we will examine the sacred texts of Hinduism and how they compare to the Bible. The title of this weekend’s message is “INSPIRATION”.
Revelation by Dr. Abidan Shah
If you remember from last weekend, we are going to spend several weeks looking at the Bible and how we should handle God’s Word. This weekend, we are comparing the Bible to the holy books and sacred texts of other religions. Is the Bible different or is it just another religious text like any other? What puts the Bible in a class of its own? The title of this weekend’s message is “REVELATION”.
Authority by Dr. Abidan Shah
This weekend, we are taking a look at the Bible itself. Throughout the years, there has been much debate as to the canon of Scripture. How were the books included in our Bible chosen and how should we view those that were not included? God’s Word is perfect, but we must understand how it was originally compiled in order to defend it. The title of this weekend’s message is “AUTHORITY.”
Rescued by Dr. Abidan Shah
In this weekend’s message, we will actually turn our attention to Psalm 34 and examine David’s words after his poor choices. They are a reminder to all generations that God rescues His people from trouble, even if that trouble is caused by our own hands. The title of this weekend’s message is “RESCUED”.
Onward by Dr. Abidan Shah
Joshua and Caleb are known for showing courage and steadfast faith in the face of difficult odds. They encountered opposition, both from the native inhabitants on the Promised Land as well as from their own people! Yet these men remained determined to push forward. The title of this weekend’s message is “ONWARD.”
Prayer: Doctrine by Dr. Abidan Shah
This weekend, we will explore the doctrine of prayer from Scripture. So many times in the Bible, God outlines for us the nature of prayer and the importance of talking with our Heavenly Father. The title of this weekend’s message is “PRAYER: DOCTRINE.”
Press On by Dr. Abidan Shah
This weekend, we are continuing through Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Paul is holding himself up as an example of what it means to continue moving forward and growing in the Christian life. He reminds his readers that developing a Christlike mindset is a journey. God continues to refine us as we pursue His will. The title of this weekend’s message is “PRESS ON.”
Mindset by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we will be looking further into Paul’s letter to the Philippians. He encourages them to change their mindset to that of Christ. In order to change a mindset, though, we must first understand what the mind is. This message will help us gain a foundational understanding of exactly what we mean by the “mind” and how it affects our daily lives. The title of this weekend’s message is “”MINDSET.”
Thankful for Our Church Family by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we are talking about our church and the family of believers that God has blessed us with here at Clearview. This is such a special place and I am so thankful for each person here, as I know many of you are as well. One way that we can show our gratefulness for our church family is by volunteering to serve in some capacity. There are so many ways to serve and to partner with our church family as we reach the lost and make Christ visible.
Anointed by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we turn to Jesus Himself as the Christ, the One promised from the beginning. Every page of the Bible, every story it contains points to Jesus as the One who will defeat sin and the grave. If we are going to rightly understand Scripture, we must interpret it through the lens of the cross. The title of this week’s message is “ANOINTED.”
Discipleship: Implanted by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we turn our attention to the importance of the Word of God being implanted in our hearts. When we memorize Scripture, we hide God’s Word in our hearts to keep us focused on Him when life tries to steal our attention. The implanted Word within us responds to the external Word when we sit under biblical teaching and preaching. Likewise, the external Word stirs the implanted Word within us and calls us to action. This weekend’s message is titled “DISCIPLESHIP: IMPLANTED.”
Discipleship: Rooted by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we are taking a look at Paul’s words to Timothy regarding the importance of studying the Bible. He encourages Timothy to remind others to regularly study the Scriptures without falling into pointless debates that only create division. Proper study of the Word ensures that men and women have a firm foundation of truth. The message this weekend is titled “DISCIPLESHIP: ROOTED.”
Discipleship 4: Established in the Word by Pastor Abidan Shah
This messages marks the fourth installment in our series. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus spent time teaching His disciples and those around Him the importance of the Old Testament and the prophecies that had been fulfilled. Disciples should be established on the truth of the Bible. The title of the message this weekend is “DISCIPLESHIP 4: ESTABLISHED IN THE WORD.”
Discipleship 3: Together by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we come to the third letter of the acronym WATER, which stands for “Together.” In the book of Acts, the believers were united by a common purpose and desire to see the gospel spread to the nations. Their unity made them stand out from those around them and drew people to the truth of who Jesus is and what He accomplished. The title of this week’s message is “DISCIPLESHIP 3: TOGETHER.”
Discipleship 2: Accountable by Pastor Abidan Shah
This weekend, we come to the second letter of the acronym WATER, which stands for “Accountable.” Throughout Scripture, we find disciples of God being grouped into pairs and going out to spread the gospel, establish churches, or visit those in need. Jesus encouraged His followers to rely on a close inner circle to keep themselves focused on pursuing God and a pure life. The title of this week’s message is “DISCIPLESHIP 2: ACCOUNTABLE.”
