He reminds his readers that developing a Christlike mindset is a journey. God continues to refine us as we pursue His will. The title of this weekend’s message is “PRESS ON.”

We are a body, joined together by God for a specific mission: to reach the world with the message of the gospel. We are each capable of accomplishing much for the Lord on our own. This weekend, we come to the third letter of the acronym WATER, which stands for “Together.” In the book of Acts, the believers were united by a common purpose and desire to see the gospel spread to the nations. Their unity made them stand out from those around them and drew people to the truth of who Jesus is and what He accomplished. The title of this week’s message is “DISCIPLESHIP 3: TOGETHER.”
This weekend, our message is titled “STEADFAST.” Paul encouraged the Philippians to stand up under persecution and maintain an eternal perspective on the sufferings of life. He tells them to remain steadfast, but it’s not an individualistic command. Paul tells the Philippians to stand firm together, being unified for the sake of the gospel.
Many times in Scripture, the church is compared to a body. It is composed of many members with different functions that work together for the good of the whole. The same should be true of the church, especially where men are concerned. Becoming spiritually mature isn’t just learning more about God; it’s about stepping up to lead by serving.
Our message will look back to the time when the people of God came together to rebuild the temple. It was a tough task but everyone cooperated and offered their gifts and talents to the building of the house of God.
Last month Americans all across the land proved with their ballots that they were dissatisfied with the direction of our country. What is being called “one of the greatest political shakeups in history” is a glimpse into the soul of the real USA. Americans have overwhelmingly declared that they do care about the economy, security, and morality of their country. They do want a better world for their children and grandchildren. Once again they are seeing a future and a hope. These are indeed exciting times in our nation’s history. Along with the other positive changes, here are some more that we cannot afford to ignore:
It is no secret that God has established our nation to be a city on a hill. We have been through rough waters before. But our predecessors trusted God and made the necessary course corrections. This message will challenge us to do the same.
This is such a sacred, meaningful time as we look back at the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us. It also reminds us of the connection we have with other believers in the family of God. Communion is not just some old ritual. It is the foundation of our unity in Christ.
