Nehemiah prays. The people get back to work. The walls reach half their height. And then the opposition escalates. More groups join in, ridicule turns into threats, and the people start saying they’re surrounded on every side. This is the part of the story most leadership books skip — what happens when you do everything right and the situation still gets worse.
In this episode, Dr. Abidan Shah walks through Nehemiah 4:6–13 and makes the case that escalating opposition is not a sign that God has abandoned the vision. It’s a sign that the enemy knows the walls are going up. He also talks about what it looks like when threats go public — when someone isn’t just coming to your office but posting online so your whole congregation can see it — and why the wisest response is often no response at all. The higher you climb, the more visible you become. Some comments don’t need an answer. And when the fear does come in, the word is the same as Nehemiah’s: remember the Lord, great and awesome, and remember what you’re fighting for.
