Why Church? by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we will begin by looking at the nature of the church. Why did God choose to work through this unique organization as Christianity began to spread? Understanding more about the early church from the book of Ephesians will help us to discover God’s calling on our lives and his direction for our own church family. Join us as we embark through Ephesians this weekend!

Living On A Prayer by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we are taking a closer look at James’ instructions regarding prayer, specifically how to pray when someone is sick or unwell. We typically will pray things like “If it’s your will” or “according to your plan” because we don’t truly understand prayer. It is much more than just a list that circulates in church or a moment in service. Prayer is our lifeline to the creator of the universe! The message this weekend will help us develop a proper perspective on prayer for others.

When You Need Patience Now by Dr. Abidan Shah

In this weekend’s message, we come to James’ instructions on patience. Patience is a struggle for most of us, especially when it comes to the things of God. We often fall into a state of complacency, thinking that Jesus’ return is in the distant future. The truth is, none of us know the day or the hour. We need to properly understand God’s plan in order to live with both patience and urgency in the Christian life.

Does The Bible Support Social Marxism by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we are addressing a portion of James that is often misunderstood or misapplied. James seems to be writing against the wealthy and those who are more well-off than others. He uses strong language that some have taken as biblical support for things like social Marxism. However, as we will learn this weekend, there is more at play behind James’ words. You and I must understand the full context to combat biblical misinterpretation or misrepresentation.

Autopsy of a Dead Faith by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we will explore one of the most prominent aspects of the book of James: the relationship between faith and works. The Bible is clear that we are saved by faith as a gift from God. However, James seems to make it clear that faith without works is useless, even dead. What is going on here, and what does it mean for our lives today? We’ll answer this question and more as we continue our study of the book of James this weekend!

Grab the Worst Seat in the House by Dr. Abidan Shah

In this weekend’s message, we come to James’ warning against showing partiality. James’ audience was tempted to show preferential treatment to others, just as you and I sometimes are. However, God’s Word reminds us that our actions affect not only our lives, but the perception of the gospel for those around us.

The Case for the New Testament: Nature of the Word by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, as we begin our new series, we will take time examining the nature of the New Testament. These 27 books were written by different people across different places, but all cohesively tell the story of Jesus’ life, the birth of the early church, and the spread of Christianity. In studying the New Testament, we will learn that not only is the Bible true in everything it says, but it also gives the help we need to lead godly lives.

End-Times Prophecy: Spirit Minded (Part 2) by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we will continue our study of the Holy Spirit. Paul writes in Romans that the Holy Spirit serves as our intercessor, going before God the Father on our behalf. Understanding the work of the Holy Spirit is vital to our growth and maturity as believers. Being spirit-minded is how we take our eyes off this world and focus them on Christ.

End-Times Prophecy: Sin-Abounding by Abidan Shah, PhD

In this weekend’s message, we will dig into a topic that, in my opinion, we often misunderstand: sin. What exactly do we mean when we talk about sin? It is one of those words that begins to lose its meaning the more you say it or are exposed to it. And yet, our understanding of sin affects our view of God’s grace and his goodness in our lives. Even through the prevalence of sin in our world, we can see God moving and making a way of salvation for us.

Sightings by Abidan Shah, PhD

May be a graphic of text

This weekend, we will look at the precursors to Samson’s life. His parents had an encounter with the angel of the Lord, who is much more than just an angelic messenger. Throughout the Old Testament, we see glimpses of the pre-incarnate Christ interacting with God’s people. What does this mean for our understanding of Scripture? How does this affect our view of Jesus? We’ll unpack this and more in our message titled “SIGHTINGS”.

Act of God, Man and the Devil by Abidan Shah, PhD

ACT OF GOD, MAN, AND THE DEVIL by Dr. Shah, Clearview Church, Henderson, NC Introduction: The social media videos and pictures from Hurricane Helene will stay with us for the rest of our lives. It has been especially sad for Nicole, our kids, and me to watch them because for the past 22 years, we have […]

Furnish by Dr. Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we will continue our study of 2 Peter as he lays out for his readers the process of sanctification. Often, we are just haphazardly making it through the Christian life, trying anything we think will work and will bring us closer to God. What we don’t realize is that the things we are trying to force to work in our favor actually end up hurting us. We must allow God to refine us and remind us that Christ is the one who will help us navigate life. The title of this weekend’s message is “FURNISH”.

Unchecked by Abidan Shah, PhD

As we begin this series, we need to understand the importance of a balanced growing spiritual life. Many of us, if we are honest, are simply hoping for the best in our relationship with God. We go to church and maybe even serve on a ministry team, but through the week our spiritual lives are left to chance or simply hoping for the best. Or worse, we live however we want throughout the week and try to clean up for church. This weekend, we will understand the dangers of a spiritual life that is “UNCHECKED.”

Blessed: Part 2 by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we will turn our attention to the blessing of parenting. We know what it means to be a parent, but what does it truly look like to parent in a way that points our children to Christ? This message applies to all of us whether you are parents or not. God has entrusted children to us to lead, guide, and help shape into the people he would have them to be. What greater calling is there? The title of this weekend’s message is “BLESSED PART 2.”

Keeping Cool: Part 2 by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we are setting our sights on the ice age. Science describes it to us, but how should we think about the ice age in light of Scripture? We learned last weekend that the Bible does in fact talk about the ice age, but how can we accurately see this event through the lens of our faith? The title of this weekend’s message is “KEEPING COOL PART 2”.

Tyranny (Article)

The history of the world shows that in every generation there arises someone who wants to create a global government to gain ultimate power. It began first at the Tower of Babel when people rejected God’s command to “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth” and decided to come together and build a city and “a tower whose top is in the heavens.” About this time, a man named Nimrod rose in power who was a hunter, not of animals but of men. Some early sources describe him as a dictator who tried to turn people away from God to follow him. God had to come down and scatter humanity so it would not be enslaved.

Generations: Impacting by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we are going to look specifically at Gen Z and Generation Alpha. These are our children and grandchildren and the ones currently most in touch with the culture around us. We cannot afford to misunderstand or neglect these generations, because the world is aiming for their minds and hearts. If we can understand Gen Z and Generation Alpha, not only can we impact them for the gospel, but equip them to impact the world around them. This weekend’s message is titled “GENERATIONS: IMPACTING”.
