Although there are some similarities across creation, God designed every creature uniquely and specifically to fulfill its own function. It reminds us that his plan for the world is perfect. God created each of the different varieties of plants and made them able to reproduce themselves. We will understand the implications of God’s design and how it impacts our faith. God designed land and sea in such a way that they would be perfectly suited to sustain the life that would soon fill them. This should amaze and inspire us to be obedient to God and to serve in church. There are many religions that either add to the canon of books that the church has traditionally considered inspired or mishandle the ones we do consider to be Scripture. How does understanding the canon of Scripture help us to better see which religions are inaccurate, even if they appear close in their beliefs? The title of this weekend’s message is “SACRED”.

In our message this weekend, Peter begins to quote Psalm 34, relating David’s words to his listeners. In order to understand Peter’s use of Psalm 34, we must first understand the context of David’s life as he was writing. He made a series of poor decisions that left him to deal with the consequences. This weekend, we will spend time going back through the same passage and exposing areas of wrong thinking that we may have picked up from our parents or loved ones related to marriage. Peter’s letter will help us course correct and develop marriages that honor God and bless each other.
In this first message, we will focus on Peter’s reminders to both wives and husbands regarding how they ought to treat one another. Peter wants his readers to understand that they ought to model themselves after their forefathers, Abraham and Sarah, rather than the world around them. As we are living in exile today, this message is true for us as well.
This weekend, we conclude Isaiah 53 and focus on the reward for Jesus’ obedience. Isaiah writes about Jesus’ seeing generations beyond Himself, pointing forward to the resurrection and His victory over death and the grave. This weekend, we are examining our relationship with Christ and how we have wandered away from what we know to be true. Like sheep, we have turned away, but our Good Shepherd has taken our sins upon Himself. The title of this weekend’s message is “ASTRAY.”
