Tracking: Level 1 by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we are going to shift gears a little in our series. We must understand that we also have a role to play in the process of sanctification. Christ does the work, but what is our part? We must take inventory of our spiritual lives, ensuring that we are developing Christlike characteristics. Without monitoring these things, we will be aimless in our spiritual lives. We will examine the first two items on Peter’s list in this weekend’s message titled “TRACKING LEVEL ONE”.

Reasoning (Article)

REASONING (Article) by Abidan Shah, PhD (Published in the newspaper Daily Dispatch, Henderson on September 7, 2023) When my kids were small, one of their favorite movies was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The older I became, the more I noticed how many people remind me of Eeyore the Donkey—always a pessimistic, gloomy, and... Continue Reading →

Keeping Cool by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we will be looking at the concept of the ice age. People often raise this as a question of biblical validity, saying that the Bible doesn’t speak about the ice age at all. Not only does the Bible talk about the ice age, but it gives us the proper framework for understanding history in light of the biblical account. The title of this weekend’s message is “KEEPING COOL”.

Church-Autopsy: Paralyzed by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend, we are examining the sixth church in the book of Revelation: Philadelphia. The church was doing many things well but was locked in fear and failed to take opportunities that God presented them. Fear can blind us to God’s plan and prevent us from stepping out in obedience. That was true for the church in Philadelphia; is it true for you as well? The title of this weekend’s message is “CHURCH-AUTOPSY: PARALYZED.”

Tyranny (Article)

The history of the world shows that in every generation there arises someone who wants to create a global government to gain ultimate power. It began first at the Tower of Babel when people rejected God’s command to “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth” and decided to come together and build a city and “a tower whose top is in the heavens.” About this time, a man named Nimrod rose in power who was a hunter, not of animals but of men. Some early sources describe him as a dictator who tried to turn people away from God to follow him. God had to come down and scatter humanity so it would not be enslaved.

Lampstand by Abidan Shah, PhD

This weekend marks the conclusion of this series on evangelism. We are called by God to be the light of the world. Light is integral in eliminating darkness and drawing attention to something. We are able to shine a light, but not because of anything within ourselves. The title of this weekend’s message is “LAMPSTAND.”

Multitude by Abidan Shah, PhD

In this very special message this weekend, we will examine the culture of Clearview itself. This is more than just a service that we attend or a building where ministries meet. Clearview is a family that God brought into our lives. We all have a responsibility in the ministry and impact of our church in reaching people and creating a community here. The title of this weekend’s message is “MULTITUDE.”

Justification: Indispensable by Dr. Abidan Shah

In the weeks leading up to Easter, we will begin new series focused on the cross and what Jesus has accomplished for us. Most believers have a very incomplete understanding of the cross. The concepts of salvation, justification, and atonement, however, are central to our faith. We will gain a better understanding of Christ’s work on the cross through this series titled “JUSTIFICATION.”

Reflection by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we will be reflecting upon 9/11 and how it has impacted our nation. I was not born in America but chose this as my home. I have seen life in other countries and I am just as convinced today as I was many years ago that God’s hand is upon this nation and that our best days are ahead. I will spend some time this weekend talking about America from my perspective and what makes this country great. This weekend’s message is titled “REFLECTION.”

Revelation by Dr. Abidan Shah

If you remember from last weekend, we are going to spend several weeks looking at the Bible and how we should handle God’s Word. This weekend, we are comparing the Bible to the holy books and sacred texts of other religions. Is the Bible different or is it just another religious text like any other? What puts the Bible in a class of its own? The title of this weekend’s message is “REVELATION”.

Living Hope by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we are moving forward through the book of 1 Peter. Peter is writing to an audience that was exiled and displaced. Hope would have been difficult to come by. And yet, he reminds them that their source of hope is God and what He has done for them and for all of us. The title of this weekend’s message is “LIVING HOPE.”

Identity by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we begin going through Peter’s letter to Jewish believers scattered throughout the region. They were discouraged and felt like they no longer had an identity as a people group. Peter reminds them, not of their previous identity, but of their new identity as Christians. The title of this weekend’s message is “IDENTITY.”

Onward by Dr. Abidan Shah

Joshua and Caleb are known for showing courage and steadfast faith in the face of difficult odds. They encountered opposition, both from the native inhabitants on the Promised Land as well as from their own people! Yet these men remained determined to push forward. The title of this weekend’s message is “ONWARD.”

Community by Dr. Abidan Shah

This weekend, we are going back to the book of Philippians. Paul's letter to the Philippian believers addresses the importance of their partnership in sharing the gospel and expanding the ministry of the church. I cannot think of a better time for us to talk about community! Join us as we begin a new series through the book of Philippians titled "COMMUNITY."

Triumphant by Dr. Abidan Shah

TRIUMPHANT by Dr. Shah, Clearview Church, Henderson, NC Introduction: I have been to many big cities, but my favorite ones to visit, not live, is Washington DC. I love all the iconic sites (Washington monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War 2 memorial, Capitol Building). We’ve even filmed there before. Our family loves to visit there as well.... Walking in the Steps by Dr. Abidan Shah

It is always so amazing to walk around these different locations, knowing that you are standing on sites mentioned in Scripture! It’s like watching the stories of the Bible come to life before your very eyes! This weekend, we will hear from some of the team members that just returned. They will share about what this trip meant to them, how it changed their perspective of the Bible, and how it helped them to grow in the faith. The title of the message this weekend is “WALKING IN THE STEPS.”
